About Us

SFE celebrates the motion picture arts, producing an annual film festival and a series of educational and entertaining film-based events throughout the year.

Now in it's third year, the Shelburne Film Expo brings the best of local and international filmmakers to Nova Scotia.

In 2015, SFE hosted the
34th Asbury Short Film Concert , New York's longest running short film showcase to Shelburne's Osprey Arts Centre.   SFE  also produced the second annual Get Your Shorts On” Competition, a short film contest designed to promote the work of Nova Scotian filmmakers.   In 2016, we will repeat the format with all new films and filmmakers.

In addition, SFE will conduct the second annual Shelburne Film Camp (SFC), a week long introduction to all aspects of professional video production.  Check out our 2015 film camp productions here:

NEW for 2016  "SFE at the Movies"  SFE will present new and classic movies at the Osprey Arts Centre.

The Founders:

“Come from away” (but here to stay) producers, Marta and Rob Stork wanted to spotlight the beauty and creativity that are so abundant on Nova Scotia's south coast and the town of Shelburne in particular.   And because they love movies (and popcorn), the choice was clear: Create a year round celebration of the motion picture arts (and serve popcorn)!  So whether you're from here or away, we invite you to enjoy what Shelburne Film Expo has to offer.

Rob Stork is an Emmy winning creator, writer and producer with over 20 years experience in film and television production, including primetime, documentary, public affairs and children's categories.  Rob's work has appeared on PBS, Discovery Channel, Showtime Networks, and Disney Channel among others.

Marta Stork was a Vice President of a promotional advertising company she co-founded.  She was responsible for concept, design and manufacture of promotional products  for many fortune 500 companies, including Coty, Philip Morris, Estee Lauder, Brown-Forman and others.
