The SFE “Get Your Shorts On”Competition is open to all residents of Nova Scotia, ages 14 and up.

The "Get Your Shorts On" competition is on! 


SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES


Length:    While the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as any movie 40 minutes or less in length, submissions to “Get Your Shorts On” should generally be 15 minutes or less. If you believe your submission warrants a longer running time, submit it along with an appeal for consideration. Judges will make the final determination.


Content:    Subject matter is open, but films should be able to qualify for a 14A rating as defined by the Maritime Film Classification Board:  Suitable for viewing by persons 14 years of age and older. Persons under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.  May contain: violence, coarse language and/or sexually suggestive scenes. Deadline:    The deadline for submissions to the 2016 SFE “Get Your Shorts On” Competition is August 1, 2016. 


Format:   Finished videos should be in one of the following customary video file formats:   .MOV or .MP4 (with HD conversion). 


Judging Process:   The SFE “Get Your Shorts On” Competition will be judged by a panel of professionals in the film, television and entertainment industries.  Films will be rated in 16 different categories, both technical and creative.


Entry Fee:    This is a free competition.  C'mon, if that doesn't help you “get your shorts on,” what will?


PRIZES


Finalists:

Prizes for Finalists include an 8GB Flash Drive, a pair of custom embroidered "Get Your Shorts On" boxers and most importantly YOUR FILMwill be presented on the big screen, in hi-def before a live audience. 


Winner:

In addition to paparazzi swarming their home, the winner of the “Get Your Shorts On” Competition will be incorporated into the Asbury Short Film Concert, where it will be given its big screen debut among the world's very best short films.
